Sports associations do not run on fields, buildings, or subsidies. They run on people.

Sports associations do not operate on fields, buildings, or subsidies. They operate on people.
Sports clubs do not operate on fields, buildings, or subsidies.
They operate on people.
The column by Gert-Jan Lammens in the magazine of Association of Sports and Municipalities hits the nail on the head:
👉 invest in genuine relationships.
In a time when everything is becoming faster, more digital, and more individualistic, the real strength of sports lies in the opposite:
connection, trust, and knowing each other.
As a manager, you might have the best policy plan…
But without strong relationships with your members, volunteers, municipality, and partners, you are nowhere.
Even more:
👉 those relationships are your foundation.
In my view, there is also a clear task for municipalities and federations:
Do not treat sports clubs as executors, but as partners.
Because sports clubs are not a cost center.
They are the cement of our society.
Invest in this. Not tomorrow. Today.
