No more lottery and discount for young Rotterdammers

Great news about the Rotterdam Marathon! Five things that will change in 2027 to remain #demooiste:

1. 25% discount if you are under 24 years old 2. Free pre-registration (goodbye to that 5 euro fee) 3. Priority in 2027 if you had a pre-registration in 2026 and did not get a ticket 4. Guaranteed ticket if you are a member of a Rotterdam athletics club 5. 1,100 free tickets for the Kids Run and 200 free tickets for the Rotterdam Walk And this is only the first step. In the coming years, we will continue working on a more accessible, affordable and sustainable marathon.

A few ambitions: - More discounts for (groups of) Rotterdammers - More Rotterdammers at the start (currently only 18%) - More running clinics at schools in the period before the marathon - Raising more money for Rotterdam charities - Much less waste and wastage (e.g. drink cups, sponges) With this, we are setting the standard for other (top) sporting events. Rotterdam is the sports city of the Netherlands: excellent facilities, enthusiastic spectators, and a facilitating municipality.

But the social value of sporting events can and must be greater. In the coming years we will focus more strongly on connecting top sport with grassroots sport and low-threshold physical activity. That is not only good for Rotterdammers, but also for organisers who can engage new groups with their sport and event.
