XXL Nutrition livery at the Dutch GP in Zandvoort.

This weekend, the Formula 1 was in Zandvoort, all very nice... but we mainly came for the Porsche Supercup. They race in the F1's support program and are the only cars that still make a bit of a nice sound. And this relaxed guy is Wouter Boerekamps, I got to know him as my racing coach but I don't think he could do much with me 😄
Anyway, we are supporting him in his racing adventure, in 2024 as a guest driver in a full XXL Nutrition livery at the Dutch GP in Zandvoort. That actually went really well there, and last year he raced an entire season of Supercup with other sponsors and with help from the team GP Elite, achieving a victory in Monza and as a guest driver winning one race in the German Porsche Carrera Cup (RedBull Ring)! And this year he will compete in a full season of Supercup and Carrera Cup Germany. This year they are racing with a new car and both the team and Wouter have really had to get to grips with it. There are teams with much larger budgets, allowing them to test a lot more and thus gain much more knowledge of the car and how best to set it up. The season is almost over, and now they are starting to really understand the car, and Wouter has also had to adjust his driving style accordingly. A bit late, but well, better late than never 😉
And you take that knowledge and experience with you to the next season. Everything should finally fall into place at Zandvoort. There were two races this weekend, both on Saturday and Sunday. No less than 29 cars at the start, and Wouter qualified for race 1 in Pole Position 💪 and for race 2 in 10th place. The race went well, he was in #1 and pulling ahead but in lap 2 there was a warning on the dashboard > Tyre Puncture! 😬 Now believe me, that is the worst possible moment for that. Into the pit lane, new tire on. At that moment, there was a safety car because someone had gone off the track, so everything bunched up again but Wouter was all the way back in #29. In the end, he still managed to get to #16, a real achievement considering that it is very difficult to overtake in the Porsche Cup.
Also the fastest lap. It was quite an emotional blow that he had to process for a bit. Started on #10 on Sunday and finished at #4, just missing the podium, but it was a great race. Wouter, leave behind the 'what if I hadn't had a flat tire' and stay away from frustration. Take the positive things to Monza in 2 weeks, the last race of the Supercup, good luck!
