Amazon introduces first automated medicine kiosks in the US

Amazon takes a new step in healthcare with the introduction of automated medicine kiosks in the United States.

The tech giant will launch these so-called 'pharmacy kiosks' starting in December 2025 at select locations of One Medical, the primary care provider that was previously acquired by Amazon.

Translate the following text into these languages:

The kiosks – comparable to vending machines – enable patients to pick up commonly prescribed medications immediately after a doctor's visit.

Consider resources such as antibiotics, inhalers, and blood pressure medications. The devices are intended for uncontrolled drugs and therefore do not store opioids or temperature-sensitive medications.

The process is digital: after a doctor's consultation, the doctor sends a prescription directly to Amazon Pharmacy.

A licensed pharmacist reviews the prescription, after which the patient receives a QR code via the Amazon app. That code provides access to the kiosk where the medication can be picked up.

If desired, a virtual pharmacist consultation is available via video or phone.

The first kiosks are appearing in Los Angeles, with the medication offerings at each location tailored to local prescribing patterns. According to Amazon, this is an addition to existing care models, aimed at providing patients with faster and more efficient access to necessary medication.
