Will the government live up to its plans? 
The third Tuesday of September is Budget Day. Then the government always presents its plans for the coming year. On the 3rd Wednesday of May, it's  #Verantwoordingsdag. The government then shows in its annual reports what it has achieved in the past year, what has been done to achieve it and what it has cost. 

This year, the Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal invited 100 SME entrepreneurs. On 27 May, they will be able to read along critically and pass on their questions to MPs, who will then debate the annual report with the government. 

This morning I attended the Accountability Breakfast in the House of Representatives. Not only a very nice kick-off to the day, but also good in terms of content, because Kristel Groenenboom of Container Services (CSI) gave a positive speech about entrepreneurs who always see opportunities and want to continue to innovate with their company. With concrete examples from practice, she called on the government to stimulate entrepreneurship and reduce the regulatory burden. Of course, I wholeheartedly agree with that. 

After the Accountability Breakfast, President of the House of Representatives @Martin Bosma received the 2023 Annual Financial Report of the central government and the annual reports of the ministries from outgoing Minister Steven van Weyenberg of the Ministerie van Financiën. Subsequently, the President of the Algemene Rekenkamer, Pieter Duisenberg, presented the reports in which the Court of Auditors assesses the government's policy of the past year. On to the V-100 on May 27th!
