Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the Zemtsov Masterfest Mikhail Zemtsov, where I was pleasantly surprised by the young musicians.

Gisteren had ik het voorrecht om het Zemtsov Masterfest Mikhail Zemtsov bij te wonen, waar ik aangenaam verrast werd door de jonge muzikanten, variërend van 9 tot 19 jaar. 

Hun indrukwekkende uitvoeringen van klassiekers van Chopin, Ravel, Schumann en Grieg waren werkelijk betoverend! 

Incredible how they played! The joy and passion with which they played made me reflect on the power of music.

How often do we take the time to listen to these pure sounds in a world that is so often dominated by contemporary music?

Their talent made me realize that we must not forget classical music. It is essential that we continue to appreciate and respect this beautiful art in all its diversity.

Hoe kunnen we deze schoonheid blijven delen en onszelf toestaan om verder te kijken dan de verwachtingen?

Voorafgaand aan de optredens woonde ik en mijn vriendin Bianca die ook een kaartje had gekocht een inspirerende lezing bij van musicoloog Leo Samama over de veelzijdige altviool. 

He encouraged us to let go, to experiment, and not to be limited by traditional beliefs. This message resonated with me, especially because it connected with my own experiences in the arts.

Want een klassieke achtergrond heb ik niet en ook nooit een opleiding kunnen volgen ondanks mijn sporen in muziek. Het is voor mij nog een redelijk onbekend terrein terwijl ik klassieke muziek heerlijk vindt.

Hoe kunnen we dus bruggen slaan tussen dat wat ooit was dat waar men zich comfortabel in voelt en dat wat spanning en vernieuwing brengt…gedachten vliegen door mijn hoofd!

De nacht ervoor had ik namelijk hilarisch genoeg een bromvlieg achtervolgd, en tijdens het muzikale stuk wat Leo liet horen( jammer genoeg weet ik niet meer welke muziekstuk het was) kwam die situatie weer naar boven. 

I could imagine the composer, inspired and irritated by the same bug, perhaps writing his music at night.

As an artist without a classical background, I view such situations from a completely different perspective and often in images. So thank you to all the musicians who share their music with love and continue to inspire us. Municipality of Halderberge, the Cultural Fund, Nicoline van Voorst Vader - Boon foundation, Mastbom-Brosens and Foundation Fund for money and securities trading, and the amazing volunteers who made this possible.
