On this day, 80 years after the liberation of Auschwitz, I reflect on one of the most tragic events in human history.
More than a million people lost their lives here - not just numbers, but fathers, mothers, children, families.
Their stories must remain alive. Because only by remembering and teaching can we prevent the darkness of hatred and intolerance from ever becoming so deep again.
Let us not only commemorate today, but also stand up against every form of discrimination and injustice.
